DOCsafe AI is a free, browser-only privacy tool that hides the private bits — names, addresses, emails, phone numbers, account numbers, dates, and dollar amounts — before you paste a document into ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or any other AI chat. When the AI replies, DOCsafe AI puts the real details back into the answer, entirely on your device. Nothing you redact ever leaves your browser: there are no uploads, no server processing, and no account required.

How it works

1. Paste text or drop in a document (PDF, Word, or plain text). DOCsafe AI scans it locally and automatically detects sensitive details — people's names, organisations, street addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, account and ID numbers, dates, and money amounts.
2. Each detected item is replaced with an anonymous placeholder token, so the document keeps its meaning and structure but carries none of the private information.
3. Copy the masked version into any AI chat and work normally — summarise, draft, analyse, translate.
4. Paste the AI's answer back into DOCsafe AI and it restores every placeholder to the original detail, producing a final answer that reads as if nothing had ever been hidden.

Why browser-only matters

Most redaction tools upload your file to a server to process it — which means the sensitive content leaves your control before it is ever protected. DOCsafe AI does the opposite: detection, masking, restore, and storage all happen inside your browser using on-device processing and local encryption. If you close the tab, your data is still only ever on your machine. You can also set a lock password: after three wrong attempts, everything stored locally is wiped.

Which AI chats does it work with? Any of them. Because DOCsafe AI produces a masked copy of your text, you can paste it into ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, Perplexity, or any other assistant, then bring the answer back to restore the original details.

What file types are supported? PDF and Word documents, plus any plain text you paste in. Text is extracted and scanned locally — the file itself is never uploaded anywhere.

Can I protect my stored documents? Yes. You can set a lock password that encrypts your locally stored restore history. After three wrong password attempts, DOCsafe AI wipes everything it has stored on the device.
